Why this recipe works

Roasted Hokkaido wedges with lemon and herbs

Hokkaido is particularly well suited for the air fryer because its shell is edible and narrow wedges quickly become soft. The pieces should be at most two centimeters thick. Thus the edges brown before the spice becomes too dark.

  4. 4

    First page roasting

Cook wedges at 190 °C for 8 minutes. Open the basket and turn each piece with a plier.

Tips for Air Fryer Pumpkin

Do not cut wedges too thick

Very thick pieces take a long time, while peppers and garlic outside become dark. 1.5 to 2 cm are well suited for Hokkaido.

Do not stack on top of each other

Pumpkin gives off moisture when cooking. When filled densely, it becomes soft, but develops hardly roasted edges.

Watching Spices

Pepper powder can quickly become dark with a strong device. Check more frequently from minute 13 and reduce the temperature to 180 °C if necessary.

Variations

How to adapt this recipe

After cooking, Feta crushed 100 g and a teaspoon of honey over the pumpkin. Do not cook the cheese loosely in the empty basket.

Replace cumin with a small pinch of cinnamon and add chilli flakes. This variant is suitable for yoghurt dip and couscous.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ about Air Fryer Pumpkin

No. The thin shell becomes soft when cooking and can be eaten with it. Wash the pumpkin thoroughly and remove damaged areas.

Hokkaido wedges from 1.5 to 2 cm thick usually take 13 to 18 minutes at 190 °C. Turn around after eight minutes and check early.

Butternut also works, but needs to be peeled. Cut it slightly thinner and check after 12 minutes because its pulp can become soft faster.

The wedges are probably too thick or the device heats particularly strongly. Thinner cut and reduce the temperature to 180 °C.

You can cut the pumpkin a few hours before and keep it refrigerated. Mix the oil and spices just before cooking.
