Measure basket before rolling out
air fryer baskets are different. The dough needs some air at the edge and must not reach the heating element.
The recipe results in two pizzas of about 18 cm diameter. Pre-baking prevents a soft base under the moist tomato sauce.
Why this recipe works
For a pizza in the air fryer, the dough must fit the basket and must not block the airflow completely. A thin bottom cooks more reliably than a high dough disc. Because hot air can move covering, light ingredients come under the cheese and are sparingly dosed.
Recipe
A small pizza with thin yeast dough is pre-baked in the air fryer and then cooked with tomato sauce and mozzarella.
Mix flour, yeast and sugar. Add water, salt and olive oil and knead for 7 to 8 minutes to a smooth elastic dough.
Cover the dough and leave it to rise in a warm place for 60 minutes, until visibly increased in volume.
Mix the tomatoes with oregano and a pinch of salt. Dip mozzarella dry and pluck small.
Halve the dough and roll out each portion thinly to just under 18 cm in diameter. Check the size on the cold basket.
Preheat the air fryer to 190 °C. Bake a base on a suitable perforated baking paper for 3 minutes, then turn and remove paper.
Fill the base sparingly with sauce and half of the mozzarella. Bake for another 4 to 5 minutes. Cook second pizza as well and serve with basil.
Kitchen know-how
air fryer baskets are different. The dough needs some air at the edge and must not reach the heating element.
Very moist cheese makes the small base soft. Drain mozzarella early and additionally dry.
Place leaves, thin slices of mushrooms or salami under the cheese so that the strong air flow does not lift anything.
