Use slightly stale bread
Very soft fresh slices can disintegrate into the egg milk. A little firmer bread can be turned more easily after soaking.
Slightly stale white bread absorbs the egg-and-milk mixture without immediately falling apart. The soaked pieces are loosely inserted and cooked from both sides.
Why this recipe works
The bread should be moist, but when inserted, do not drip strongly. Four thick slices make up eight triangles for two portions of breakfast. For a usual basket, two batches with four triangles are planned. The cooking time contains both batches. Fruit, syrup or other extra toppings are not part of the basic recipe.
Recipe
Thick toast triangles absorb an egg milk and are baked in two batches. Cinnamon sugar is added only after cooking.
Beat the eggs and milk together in a flat bowl. Halve toast slices diagonally and allow the egg milk to be absorbed evenly. The pieces should be moist, but not dripping. Mix cinnamon and sugar separately.
Spread the suitable basket insert with a portion of butter thinly fat, remaining butter sparingly on the bread. Preheat for 3 minutes to 180 °C if necessary. Insert four triangles with space between them.
Cook first portion for about 8 minutes at 180 °C and turn after 4 minutes. Bake the remaining four triangles for about 8 minutes. The egg milk must be completely firm in the centre; in case of doubt, ensure at least 70 °C for 2 minutes and cook longer.
Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on the hot cooked pieces and serve immediately. Each of the two portions contains four triangles. Treat raw and cooked pieces separately during baking.

The cinnamon sugar belongs to the finished toast. Loose sugar grains in the basket can quickly become dark.
