Leave air around the baking pan
Too large a baking pan blocks the airflow. Around it should remain at least one finger width space.
A suitable oven-proof baking pan keeps the tomato juice and cheese together. The air fryer roasts the surface, while a spicy sauce for bread or pasta is created.
Why this recipe works
Loose tomatoes and feta would add juice and cheese to the basket. In a small baking pan, the aromas stay together and the hot air still reaches the surface. Choose a baking pan that leaves at least a finger width distance from the basket wall.
Recipe
Feta and cherry tomatoes cook with garlic, oregano and olive oil in a small baking pan until the cheese is soft and the tomatoes are burst.
Choose a heat-resistant baking pan that is securely in the basket and leaves space for the airflow on the side. Spread the baking pan thinly with some olive oil.
Mix cherry tomatoes, onion and garlic with half the oil, oregano, chilli flakes and pepper in the baking pan.
Place feta blocks between the tomatoes and sprinkle with the remaining oil. Additional salt is not necessary because of the cheese.
Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. Put in the baking pan and cook for 10 minutes until the tomatoes release juice.
Cook for another 3 to 5 minutes until the feta is slightly browned at the edges and soft in the middle. Gently lift out the baking pan.
Add lemon juice and basil over the dish. Serve feta with tomato juice on bread or gently lift under freshly cooked pasta.
Kitchen know-how
Too large a baking pan blocks the airflow. Around it should remain at least one finger width space.
Halved tomatoes give off juice in a controlled manner and combine faster with oil and spices than whole fruits.
Ceramics and metal become very hot. Use heat-resistant gloves and place the baking pan on an insensitive base.
