What matters
Very overripe bananas collapse more readily and are harder to lift after cooking.
Air fryer chocolate bananas made with peeled banana halves and dark chocolate. A closed shallow dish catches the warm fruit juices as they bake.
Why this recipe works
Two small desserts from two small bananas. The listed weight is peeled flesh. Choose ripe but firm fruit and plain dark chocolate; no extra toppings are needed.
Recipe
Air fryer chocolate bananas made with peeled banana halves and dark chocolate. A closed shallow dish catches the warm fruit juices as they bake.
Peel and weigh bananas, then halve lengthways. Arrange four halves cut-side up in a shallow dish with a closed base. Use a heatproof dish suitable for the appliance, leaving space around it for airflow. Do not preheat with loose paper.
Make a shallow slit along each half without cutting through. Break chocolate into small pieces and tuck into the slits. Keep loose pieces inside the dish, not directly in the basket.
If required by the manufacturer, preheat for 3 minutes at 180 °C. Cook about 6 minutes at 180 °C until banana is soft and chocolate warm. Check visually; some chocolate keeps its shape but softens when touched.
Remove with gloves. Gently spread chocolate with a spoon if needed. Let cool briefly, then lift the soft banana halves and juices onto plates.
