Do not open early
Release only once the surface is stable. Follow both the appliance signal and browning.
Add apple with skin and chopped seeds to a mildly sweet batter, then bake through until golden.
Why this recipe works
Use the apple with its juice. Seeds add small firm pieces. Divide the batter evenly; the amount makes four breakfasts regardless of the iron’s shape.
Recipe
Golden waffles with grated apple and chopped sunflower seeds, served warm without toppings.
Wash and core apple, weigh and grate coarsely with skin. Chop seeds coarsely. Preheat the waffle iron to medium-high according to its instructions.
Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Whisk eggs with milk, sugar and 20 g oil. Briefly stir in flour mixture, then fold in apple and seeds. Do not beat longer than needed.
Spread the remaining 10 g oil thinly across all batches. Divide batter into 4 equal portions and bake successively according to the appliance, about 4 to 6 minutes until golden. The centre must be fully set and cooked; extend time and adjust heat if needed.
Let steam escape briefly on a rack and serve warm. A portion is one quarter of all batter including its oil share. Piece count varies with the iron; the total makes four breakfasts without toppings.
Kitchen know-how
Release only once the surface is stable. Follow both the appliance signal and browning.
A plate traps steam underneath; a rack preserves the surface better.
