What matters
Do not substitute raw beans: canned beans are a fully cooked starting point.
Air fryer sausages with butter beans, tomatoes and onion. Start cooking the raw sausages first, then add cooked beans and heat everything through.
Why this recipe works
Two portions of sausages and beans, without bread. Use fully cooked butter beans from a jar or tin. Raw dried beans cannot be safely cooked with this short air fryer stage.
Recipe
Air fryer sausages with butter beans, tomatoes and onion. Start cooking the raw sausages first, then add cooked beans and heat everything through.
Lightly oil a shallow dish about 18 × 14 cm. Place raw sausages side by side. Drain beans, chop tomatoes and finely dice onion. Use a heatproof dish suitable for the appliance, leaving space around it for airflow. Do not preheat with loose paper.
If required by the manufacturer, preheat for 3 minutes at 180 °C. Start sausages for about 10 minutes at 180 °C, turning once. Meanwhile mix beans, tomatoes, onion, mustard, thyme and pepper.
Cut sausages into pieces with clean utensils, return to dish and add bean mixture. Cook about 15 minutes at 170 °C, stirring during cooking. Check the thickest sausage centre. Check that the thickest part reaches at least 70 °C for 2 minutes; continue cooking if needed.
Sausages must be cooked through and beans and tomato juices hot in the centre. Taste before adding salt; sausages and mustard are already seasoned.
