Why this recipe works

Leave room between fish pieces

Four short skewers make two servings without rice or bread. Use fully thawed skinless salmon. Cut pepper into flat pieces so it softens alongside the more delicate fish cubes.

Ingredients

2 servings

Method

  1. 1

    Prepare

Check salmon for bones, pat dry and cut into cubes about 3 cm. Deseed pepper and cut flat pieces about 2 cm wide. Prepare suitable short metal skewers.

  2. 2

    Fill and assemble

Mix oil, lemon, salt and pepper. Gently coat fish and pepper, then loosely alternate on four skewers. Do not crush fish or leave it in acid for long.

  3. 3

    Cook

If required by the manufacturer, preheat for 3 minutes at 180 °C. Cook spaced apart for about 14 minutes at 180 °C. Turn carefully halfway using gloves. Metal ends get hot; check doneness in the thickest fish cube. Check that the thickest part reaches at least 70 °C for 2 minutes; continue cooking if needed.

  4. 4

    Check and serve

Plate skewers and warn of hot metal. Slide cooked fish off sideways with a fork for easier eating. Do not use leftover raw marinade as a dip.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ about Air fryer salmon pepper skewers

Only if appliance and accessory guidance allow it. This method is designed for suitable metal skewers.

Thick pepper takes longer. Flat pieces soften without requiring unnecessarily long fish cooking.

No, apply the thin lemon oil coating just before cooking. Prolonged acid exposure changes the surface.

Very small pieces or tight threading make them fragile. Turn the skewer rather than pulling soft fish.
