Use thermometers
Two minutes already change the cooking level. Laterally pierce to the middle, without measuring only the fat edge.
Two steaks about three centimetres thick are sparingly oiled, hot cooked and turned once. A short rest time distributes the meat juice.
Why this recipe works
The air fryer does not provide as strong a contact crust as a heavy pan, but can cook thick steaks reliably and without a grease splash. A thermometer is indispensable, because performance, meat thickness and desired cooking level change the time significantly. Thin minute steaks are less suitable for this method.
Recipe
Rump steaks cook evenly in the preheated air fryer when thickness, initial temperature and internal temperature decide instead of a rigid minute specification.
Remove meat from the refrigerator 20 minutes before cooking. Dry the damp surfaces.
Cut the edge of fat in short intervals without cutting into the meat. Oil steaks thin and salt around them.
Preheat air fryer 5 minutes to 200 °C. A hot basket supports the browning at the beginning.
Place steaks at a distance and cook for 5 minutes at 200°C. Then turn with a plier.
Cook for another 3 to 7 minutes and measure three from minute to minute. For medium about 56 to 58 °C in the device.
Remove steaks, pepper and let rest for 5 minutes. Serve with herb butter and cut across to the fiber.
Kitchen know-how
Two minutes already change the cooking level. Laterally pierce to the middle, without measuring only the fat edge.
Thick steaks develop outside colour before the centre cooks too far. Thin slices become dry faster.
When resting, the internal temperature rises still slightly and the leaking meat juice is better distributed in the steak.
Variations
Values are estimates and may vary depending on the ingredients, brands, portion size and preparation method used.
