What matters
Very small or thin pasta may fall through or harden too quickly.
Air fryer Parmesan pasta chips with paprika. Boil short pasta first, dry it well and roast in small loose batches before adding finely grated cheese.
Why this recipe works
Four small snack servings from dry pasta. Use robust short shapes such as rigatoni; basket openings must be smaller than pasta. Preparation includes 5 minutes steaming dry.
Recipe
Air fryer Parmesan pasta chips with paprika. Boil short pasta first, dry it well and roast in small loose batches before adding finely grated cheese.
Boil pasta in water about 10 minutes or until just firm according to its pack. Drain and steam dry uncovered about 5 minutes. Gently blot surface moisture with a clean cloth.
Toss with oil, paprika, oregano and salt. Reserve Parmesan. Use a suitable fine basket insert that retains pasta and larger broken pieces.
If required by the manufacturer, preheat for 3 minutes at 180 °C. Roast two loose batches about 8 minutes each at 180 °C, shaking gently once. Check early; some shapes harden or darken quickly. A light golden colour is enough.
Toss warm pasta with Parmesan outside the appliance. Cool slightly and check it is pleasantly crisp, not rock hard. Do not treat it as an easily dissolving young-child snack.
Kitchen know-how
Very small or thin pasta may fall through or harden too quickly.
Add Parmesan after roasting so it cannot blow loosely around the appliance.
