What matters
Long mixing after adding flour can toughen the cake. Mix only until no dry pockets remain.
Air fryer mini marble cake with plain batter and unsweetened cocoa. Bake in a small loaf tin, check with a skewer and allow to cool.
Why this recipe works
This small batch makes four pieces in a loaf tin about 16 × 8 × 6 cm. A brief swirl keeps light and dark streaks visible. Preparation includes 20 minutes of cooling.
Recipe
Air fryer mini marble cake with plain batter and unsweetened cocoa. Bake in a small loaf tin, check with a skewer and allow to cool.
Grease tin with 5 g oil. Mix flour and baking powder. Divide milk into 70 ml for plain batter and 15 ml for cocoa batter. Use a heatproof dish suitable for the appliance, leaving space around it for airflow. Do not preheat with loose paper.
Mix egg, sugar, remaining oil and the larger milk portion. Briefly fold in flour mixture. Halve batter; mix cocoa and remaining milk into one half. Alternate in the tin and swirl once with a fork.
If required by the manufacturer, preheat for 3 minutes at 150 °C. Bake about 30 minutes at 150 °C. Test the centre with a wooden skewer: no liquid batter should cling. Extend according to tin and appliance.
Cool for 20 minutes, release carefully and cut into four pieces. The dark swirl is baked cocoa batter, not a molten chocolate centre.
