Why this recipe works

Warm cinnamon apples with crispy oats topping

Cinnamon apples are particularly good in a small baking pan in the air fryer: the fruit juice is preserved and sugar cannot drop into the basket. The topping is only distributed after half the cooking time, so that nuts and oatmeal roast without becoming dark.

Recipe

Air Fryer Cinnamon Apples

Warm apple clefts with cinnamon, oatmeal and walnuts cook in the air fryer for a quick dessert with soft fruits and roasted topping.

Ingredients

4 servings

Method

  1. 1

    Cut apples

Cut apples into quarters, de-nucleate and cut into approximately 1.5 cm thick wedges. Peeling is not necessary in case of thin, undamaged peel.

  2. 2

    Seasoning of fruit

Mix the apple clefts with lemon juice, maple syrup, cinnamon and vanilla and put into a small heat-resistant baking pan.

  3. 3

    Mixing Topping

Mix oatmeal, walnuts, melted butter and salt in a bowl.

  4. 4

    Fry apples

Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. Use the mould and cook the apples for 7 minutes.

  5. 5

    Topping roasting

Stir the apples, spread the oat mixture loosely and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes until the fruits are soft and the nuts are golden brown.

  6. 6

    Serve lukewarm

Remove the baking pan carefully. Let the cinnamon apples cool for 3 minutes and serve with natural yoghurt.

Kitchen know-how

Tips for Air Fryer Cinnamon Apples

Choose Sauerliche Apples

Boskoop, Elstar or Braeburn retain aroma and some structure. Very floury varieties quickly disintegrate into mus.

Add topping later

Walnuts and oatmeal roast faster than the apples become soft. By the later addition they do not burn.

Keep juice in baking pan

A closed baking pan picks up fruit juice and syrup. Directly in the perforated basket, both would drip for heating.

Variations

How to adapt this recipe

Replace two apples with solid pears. Cut the pear splits a little thicker so that they do not crumble before the apples.

Replace walnuts with 25 g pumpkin or sunflower seeds. Check the suitability of all the products used for allergies.
