What matters
Ready-made chips are usually salted. No extra salt is needed here.
Air fryer cheese nachos with Gouda, fresh tomato and spring onion. Use shallow layers, heat briefly and add the fresh topping afterwards.
Why this recipe works
The tortilla chips are already baked or fried. The air fryer only melts the cheese. A shallow dish about 18 cm across holds them together. The quantity makes a snack for two.
Recipe
Air fryer cheese nachos with Gouda, fresh tomato and spring onion. Use shallow layers, heat briefly and add the fresh topping afterwards.
Grate the cheese. Remove watery tomato seeds and dice the firm flesh. Thinly slice the spring onion; set both aside separately.
Arrange chips in two loose, shallow layers, distributing cheese between and on top. Do not build a tall pile. Use a heatproof dish suitable for the appliance, leaving space around it for airflow. Do not preheat with loose paper.
If required by the manufacturer, preheat for 3 minutes at 160 °C. Insert the dish and heat for about 4 minutes at 160 °C. Check as soon as the cheese melts; the thin chips must not blacken.
Remove with oven gloves. Add fresh tomato and spring onion and share immediately before the cheese sets again.
